An Industry Passion Inspires Jade

Jade Singleton Mineral Resources

For Mineral Resources’ Senior Mine Planning Engineer, Jade Singleton, a career in the resources industry came knocking towards the end of her high school journey.

Having moved to the historic mining town of Kalgoorlie, Jade attended WA School of Mines and gained a double degree in Mining Engineering and Commerce.

In the years to follow, Jade built a respected career across a range of FIFO, DIDO, consulting and office-based roles within the mining sector and a became proud mum to two children.

Career progress in a pandemic

In 2021, a desire to return to her roots in technical mining engineering brought Jade to MRL during February’s COVID-19 lockdown.

“Firstly, I was impressed MRL’s agile approach to the evolving health situation,” Jade said.

My manager personally delivered my laptop and mobile phone so I could join the Mine Planning team remotely.”

Today, her role as Senior Mine Planning Engineer supports operations at our Mount Marion lithium mine – working closely with her team and business stakeholders – including geologists and technical teams and finance teams – to help MRL continue achieving great things.

Jade says she was drawn to MRL because of their different business edge and agile approach to mining.

“I love that MRL supports its employees and the local communities where we work – from Christmas family site visits, mental health and wellbeing initiatives to community partnerships and graduate and apprenticeship programs,” she said.

“It’s also great getting out to site to connect with people and get my boots dirty. It’s a dynamic, fast-paced working environment with plenty of learning and team collaboration to help me continue to improve my design, planning and scheduling skills.”

Inspiring the next generation

Jade’s also helping to inspire the next generation to consider a career in mining through her role as Alumni Council member at WA School of Mines and her recently-appointed position as Chair of Get Into Resources .

This annual three-day program hosts around 500 students from WA schools as they gain insights and enjoy hands-on activities relating to the industry across Vocational Education and Training (VET) and Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) streams.
