The team at our Kwinana Workshop recently completed the design and fabrication of a new EX2600 excavator bucket.
This is no mean feat as a full bucket rebuild of this kind is usually outsourced to companies who specialise in this work. By successfully completing this in-house, we were able to achieve significant cost savings.
The rebuild took approximately 900 hours of work to complete, which included the fabrication, welding, installation of the ground engaging tools, line boring, installation of the greasing system and blasting and painting.
All the welding was tested using Magnetic Particle Inspection and Ultra Sonic Testing to ensure the durability of the bucket.
Expanding our business capability not only has a cost saving benefit, it also provides the opportunity to up-skill our people and creates the potential to increase our workforce as we look to the future.
