Mineral Resources Apprenticeship Program

We recently welcomed another 16 apprentices to the MRL family, representing our largest intake to date.

Our Apprenticeship Program is a dynamic, four-year training plan which combines training with practical work experience to provide participants with excellent opportunities to develop their skills whilst on the job.  The apprentices will spend two years at our industry-leading Kwinana workshop facility to develop their trade skillset, before relocating to one of our many operational sites in their third and fourth year.  The program includes mentoring and skills-development advice from some of the most experienced and knowledgeable leaders in the mining industry.

We hire our apprentices across two areas of our business. Boilermakers, electricians and mechanical fitters work within our CSI Mining Services business and HD fitters and auto electricians work within our Asset Management Group. We recognise the benefits of having a diverse workforce and we are proud that our female representation of apprentices for 2021 is 25%; an increase of 20% from last year.

Our apprentices, and their families, were welcomed to MRL at an event hosted by Managing Director Chris Ellison. Each apprentice received a MRL branded toolbox, engraved with their name, and contained all of the tools and equipment they will need to get started in their career.

Our apprenticeship program supports our “second-generation employee” philosophy. Apprentices from our 2021 intake are family members of current employees, and students who have participated in the Kwinana Industry Councils (KIC) pre-apprenticeship program, which Mineral Resources is a proud sponsor.

Our 2022 Apprenticeship Program intake will open mid-year. Find out more about about our programs
