From today, the 100% Indigenous-owned newspaper expands nationwide and includes a dedicated lifestyle lift out showcasing and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ fashion, art, design, film, literature, theatre and events.

Through the partnership, MinRes will provide financial and in-kind support to help NIT create a national platform for First Nations creatives to share their talents and grow their business.

MinRes Brand Director Russell James said this partnership was a great fit with MinRes’ commitment to creating long-term prosperity in collaboration with Indigenous Australia.

“We’re delighted to be working with NIT during this exciting period of growth and see tremendous opportunities,” Russell said.

“MinRes is very focused on supporting Indigenous entrepreneurs to get their business ideas off the ground in the local communities in which we operate.

“We know that for every artistic endeavour there are a lot of very practical opportunities and jobs. That’s why we’re so pleased to be partnering with NIT to create a national platform for First Nations creatives across the country to showcase their work.”

The new partnership means NIT will be expanding its team, employing an additional journalist to support the growth of the lifestyle section.

NIT lifestyle managing editor, Shannon McGuire said the partnership will allow the lifestyle section a lot more flexibility.

“MinRes has come on as our masthead sponsor which allows the lifestyle section to become bigger for one, but it also allows us the flexibility and the opportunity to take on more journalists,” Shannon said.

“The lifestyle section offers a great balance in a way of positivity and getting those good news stories out there because there are First Nations people in our country who are creating a space that really sheds our culture in a positive light.

“So the partnership with MinRes comes at the most amazing time because as NIT builds its brand, it’s also helping us to develop our identity as a publication nationally as well.”

In addition to financial support, MinRes will support NIT with the use of the company’s in-house studio and camera equipment.

Russell James, who is one of the most highly regarded photographers in the world of fashion, celebrity, and fine art, will also provide guidance and mentoring to the lifestyle team.
