Mineral Resources (MinRes) Onslow Iron Ore Project (IOP) aims to unlock further mineral assets in the West Pilbara region. The Onslow IOP includes MinRes Ashburton Infrastructure Project (AIP) involving the development of a private haul road as well as landside and marine facilities at the Port of Ashburton.

MinRes and Australian Premium Iron Management have entered into a Commercial Agreement to progress the West Pilbara Iron Ore Project which connects directly to the AIP, whereby ore will be transported along the haul road to the Port.

Port facilities will include a loading jetty to load ore onto Transhipping Vessels which will travel along PPA’s existing shipping channel offshore and then loaded onto cape size vessels.

The AIP will initially support the export of approximately 30 million tonnes per annum of ore through the Port over a 10-year period, with the intention to support export of up to 40 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) over a 30-year period in the future.

The Shire of Ashburton has a population of approximately 10,000 people, mostly residing in the towns of Tom Price, Onslow, Pannawonica and Paraburdoo. The Aboriginal communities of Bindi Bindi, Wakathuni, Bellary, Youngaleena and Ngurawaana are also located within the Shire.
