Celebrating 10 years of Starlight Wishes

Mineral Resources (MinRes) and Starlight Children’s Foundation are celebrating 10 years of partnership that has helped grant more than 230 Starlight Wishes to sick kids across Western Australia.

Since 2013, MinRes has provided more than $1.7 million to help Starlight provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience for seriously ill children and their families.

Starlight Wishes come in all shapes and sizes – from travel wishes, hero wishes to experience wishes – each bringing happiness to seriously ill children who are often undergoing treatment or recovering from surgery.

The long-term partnership between MinRes and Starlight was recently celebrated at Starlight’s CEO Breakfast in Perth. Speaking at the breakfast, Starlight Children’s Foundation Chief Executive Officer Louise Baxter acknowledged MinRes’ support over the past 10 years as integral to Starlight’s wish-granting program in WA.

“A Starlight Wish is an incredible gift of hope for kids facing procedures and treatment, offering children and their families something positive to focus on and helping build resilience. It’s amazing MinRes has enabled Starlight to grant over 230 Starlight Wishes,” Louise said.

“We can’t thank MinRes enough for their generous and ongoing support. To every team member who has been involved during this fantastic 10-year partnership, thank you.”

Last year, MinRes’ support helped grant 23 wishes to WA kids, which included granting a wish to a young West Coast Eagles fan.

MinRes helped provide a special game day experience for the young boy and his family which included a limousine ride to the game, running out onto the field at Optus Stadium with AFL players and watching the game from the MinRes corporate box.

MinRes Chief People and Shared Services Officer, Bronwyn Grieve, attended the CEO Breakfast and said it was a privilege to support Starlight’s mission to help bring happiness to seriously ill children when they need it most.

“As a proudly Western Australian company, MinRes employs almost 6000 people, many with young children of their own,” Bronwyn said.

“That’s why we’re proud of our long-standing partnership with Starlight, which has helped bring joy and create treasured memories for more than 230 WA families.”

In addition to financial support for Starlight’s wish-granting program, MinRes is also helping to support the wellbeing of Starlight’s superhero performers – each known as Captain Starlight.

Each quarter, MinRes hosts training sessions for the amazing Captains at our Osborne Park head office so they can complete their Starlight’s Captain Connection Training program.
