Providing a safe space for parents and families at Nulsen Primary School

Mineral Resources (MinRes) is pleased to confirm a $25,000 contribution to Esperance independent public school, Nulsen Primary School, to furnish a parent and family centre.

Nulsen aims to promote a positive and supportive learning environment and develop resilience and excellence for students to be successful learners in a rapidly changing world.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Nulsen used existing contacts and resources to provide support to local families by offering access to advocates, mental health services, parent workshops, student therapy sessions and interagency meetings for services based in the Esperance region.

The school identified the positive impact a long-term parent and family centre could have on the school and wider community.

This includes offering a focal point for families to build relationships with the school, transition into the education system, develop key parenting skills and access community services in a culturally safe space.

Nulsen Principal Krystal Wiggin and said MinRes’ contribution will provide an opportunity to refurbish the centre and help ensure it’s a safe and welcoming environment for our families.

“Funds will support with the purchase of equipment and resources enabling our partnered services to be accessible and flexible for private and group-based sessions,” Krystal said.

MinRes Manager Stakeholder Engagement Daniel Barker said the contribution was sure to help make a significant difference in the region.

“Supporting organisations that create vibrant and resilient communities is one of our core social investment pillars,” Daniel said.

“We’re proud to support Nulsen in their vision to provide vital support to families within the Esperance area.”

MinRes operates iron ore and lithium projects across its Yilgarn and Goldfields Hubs, with products exported through the Port of Esperance.
