"I competed in the Shelly to Manly ocean swim the day after my fourteenth birthday. I remember standing at the start line, looking at the woman next to me and seeing the distinctive outline of the Olympic Rings tattooed on her leg. In that moment I thought ‘it’s all or nothing’. I was the youngest person to finish the race that day and I’ve adopted that mindset across my life. I recently moved back to Perth after living interstate and abroad for more than 20 years. I wanted to meet new people and get involved in my local community, so I completed my Bronze Medallion and now I volunteer as a Surf Life Saver."
