MinRes headquarters achieves Green Star certification

Mineral Resources (MinRes) recently received Green Star certification for its headquarters at 20 Walters Drive in Osborne Park, recognising leadership in environmentally sustainable building practices.

The state-of-the-art building, which opened in June 2022, is the seventh in Perth to receive 6 Star Green Star Design & As Built certification from Green Building Council Australia (GBCA).

GBCA’s Green Star – Design & As Built certification assesses the sustainability outcomes from the design and construction of new buildings or major refurbishments across nine holistic impact categories: management, indoor environment quality, energy, transport, water, materials, land use and ecology, emissions and innovation.

Green Star ratings encourage industry to create buildings that are healthy, liveable, productive, resilient and sustainable.

Executive General Manager Corporate Development James Bruce said the certification is an outstanding achievement for MinRes.

“This significant investment in creating a high-quality, sustainable headquarters has reinforced how we care about our employees and the quality of their working environment,” Bruce said.

“Green Star recognition reflects our MinRes culture and our focus on providing productive and collaborative places where our employees feel included.”

“It’s a great achievement and follows years of work by many people at MinRes making a contribution to a more sustainable Australia.”

GBCA awards Green Star certification across with three levels – 4 Star, 5 Star and 6 Star – representing Best Practice, Australian Excellence and World Leadership respectively.

The design of MinRes’ headquarters was also guided by the International WELL Building Standards with the aim of setting a new benchmark for workplace wellness and incorporating performance metrics, design strategies and policies to elevate human health in the built environment.
