For decades, Telethon has united the Western Australian community in a collective mission to improve the lives of sick, vulnerable and disadvantaged children by funding life-changing medical research, essential equipment and crucial programs.

It’s a mission MinRes is proud to support, each year joining with other business and communities across WA to help raise vital funds for local children.

In 2025, MinRes proudly contributed $2 million to the Telethon tally – bringing the company's total contributions to $16.5 million over the past 10 years.

World-first Innovation set to support premature babies

Despite significant advances in neonatal medicine, there is still much to learn about caring for the delicate skin of vulnerable newborns. As the body’s largest organ, skin is crucial to the wellbeing of all babies, especially those born prematurely.

Backed by MinRes’ 2025 Telethon contribution, WA is set to become the first location to utilise a piece of cutting-edge medical equipment that will support the state's youngest community members thrive.

The MinRes-funded DeepLive optical coherence tomography (OCT) machine will be put to use in the neonatal intensive care unit at King Edward Memorial Hospital, gathering real-time and non-invasive data on the skin condition of premature babies.

With the unit caring for over 2,300 newborns each year, the DeepLive OCT machine is expected to make a significant difference for years to come.

To maximise its impact, a two-year study will accompany the technology's rollout, providing first insights into its ability to detect early-stage skin issues and injuries sooner and potentially transform care for vulnerable newborns.

The power of the WA community

For more than 50 years, Telethon has sparked generosity in the WA community and inspired positive action to support the best possible future for children.

MinRes Director People Andrea Chapman said Telethon's impact remains profound, with beneficiaries driving projects and initiatives that transform the lives of countless WA families.

“I’ve witnessed firsthand the profound impact of Telethon and its local beneficiaries – from the world-first ZeroG 3D machine at Healthy Strides supporting kids learn to walk, to this new technology helping tiny babies thrive at King Eddies,” Chapman said.

“MinRes is so proud to be a long-term supporter of Telethon and its beneficiaries. We know when the WA community comes together, it's truly powerful.”
