In 2025, MinRes’ Christmas Giving program was strengthened by the kindness and energy of employees who united to assist local beneficiaries Mission Australia and The CREW.
At Mission Australia’s Wattle House Hub in Maddington – which supports people who are at risk of homelessness – employees made food donations to replenish the Hub’s supplies.
MinRes also provided a financial contribution to Mission Australia’s annual Christmas in the Park at Wellington Square, which each year welcomes around 1,500 homeless, vulnerable or disadvantaged people. MinRes’ support ensures 200 children attending the 2025 event receive a Christmas gift.
At the company’s Osborne Park head office, families who attend the Early Learning Centre generously donated children’s gifts and much-needed items to support the Christmas in the Park event.

Mission Australia Events Manager Carley Smith thanked MinRes for its support.
“The Mission Australia team is so grateful for the generous support of MinRes – these donations help bridge the gap for those doing it tough and ensure some of Perth’s most vulnerable community members can experience dignity, connection and joy on Christmas Day,” Carley said.
“The children in attendance will be thrilled to receive a gift and for many it will be the only present they receive this Christmas.”
In the Peel region, MinRes continued its long-standing support of The CREW – providing a financial donation to help the local organisation continue supporting homeless or struggling members of the community.
This year, The CREW’s goal was to provide 1,500 festive hampers packed with food, essentials and gifts, with teams from MinRes’ Kwinana Workshop and wholly owned Mining Wear Parts pitching in to provide 200 packs of pancake mix to help fill hampers.
The CREW Chief Executive Officer Kendall Sowerby said the hampers bring joy to local families.
“When a business like MinRes chooses something specific on our Christmas hamper list, it might feel like a small or one-off decision but the impact is anything but small,” Kendall said.
“The team’s generosity helps turn a basic hamper into a memory. It helps us say to families, ‘You matter and this day is worth celebrating.’
“That’s incredibly powerful and we couldn’t do it without partners like MinRes choosing to step in and help.”
Reaching regional communities
This year, MinRes dedicated roughly half of its Christmas Giving program funds to organisations serving regional communities.
The Salvation Army benefited from donations, festive meals and gifts to support Christmas events at the Karratha Women’s Refuge, Graceville Women’s Refuge and Kalgoorlie-Boulder Youth Accommodation Service.
The Salvation Army’s WA State Manager Family and Domestic Violence Stream Dawn Mills expressed her appreciation for MinRes’ support.
“Over the past five years, generous donations from MinRes have significantly enhanced our women’s and children’s family and domestic violence services in both Perth and Karratha,” Dawn said.
“The funds have been instrumental in creating a sense of joy and normalcy during the festive periods, allowing us to purchase Christmas gifts for the women and children we support.
“MinRes donations have fostered community spirit and provided crucial support, helping to improve the wellbeing, happiness of women and children affected by family and domestic violence in our communities and ensure connection and positive experience during this traumatic and disruptive times in their lives.”
Variety of support across WA
MinRes’ 2025 Christmas Giving contributions have been put to good use in a range of ways by organisations to support those accessing their services – including the following initiatives:
- The Pat Giles Centre for Non Violence purchased Christmas gifts for women and children in their care.
- Hannah’s House hosted a Christmas party for families caring for a child with complex health needs, complete with food, fun activities and a special visit from Santa.
- The Peel Community Kitchen is delivering a special Christmas lunch for around 130 community members struggling with homelessness or the rising cost of living.
- Rise Network purchased a barbecue for use at its Kira House Refuge, including lunch on Christmas Day. Gift packs and vouchers have also been purchased for residents.
