Air quality
Protecting air quality is essential to our operations and we are committed to minimising emissions and dust to safeguard the environment and communities.

Our commitment
We are committed to minimising adverse air quality impacts associated with our operations and where possible protect the environment through the efficient use of natural resources.

Our approach
Across our business, the equipment used to undertake operational activities – such as drill and blast, load and haul, and ore processing - generates dust and other air emissions such as exhaust emissions.
Under the Australian National Environment Protection (National Pollutant Inventory) Measure 1998, where facilities generate emissions that are included in the 93 regulated substances, they are required to report volumes to the Western Australia Environmental Protection Authority. MinRes annually reports listed substance emissions to the National Pollutant Inventory (NPI) for facilities exceeding reporting thresholds.
MinRes manages dust in line with Environmental Protection Act and relevant licence conditions. We take practical steps to control air emissions, aiming to prevent fugitive dust and reduce its impact on vegetation, soil and local amenities. Measures include the use of water carts and dust suppressants on high traffic areas, physical barriers and sprinklers at material transfer points on our processing infrastructure and loading facilities.
Key documents
To support our commitment, we have established a robust framework of policies, standards and procedures:
