Safety
Safety is at the core of everything we do and we are committed to providing a safe working environment.

Our commitment
We are committed to providing a safe, healthy and supportive workplace – physically and psychosocially – across all our operations.
Our commitment extends to full compliance with all applicable health and safety legislation governing our activities, particularly the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WA) and the Work Health and Safety Regulations 2022.

Our approach
Our Health and Safety Management System is designed to ensure a safe and healthy workplace while complying with legislative and company standards. Delivered by dedicated Health and Safety professionals, it manages hazards and risks throughout our operations.
We learn from health and safety incidents by investigating and understanding the root causes of incidents and implement effective improvements to our systems and practices to strengthen our safety culture and prevent future occurrences.
We actively engage our people ensuring they are meaningfully involved in safety-related discussions and are supported with the necessary training so they carry out their roles safely and competently.
Our Health and Safety Management System is continually reviewed to ensure improvement, including monitoring objectives and targets, reviewing and refining policies and procedures, incorporating feedback from internal and external stakeholders and responding to changes in legislation.
- Leaders demonstrate accountability and personal commitment to our core health, safety and wellness principles.
- Our people feel safe to raise concerns and speak truthfully about matters that impact their health, safety and wellbeing.
- People make informed and innovative decisions that prevent harm without constraining core business activities, drawing on knowledge and leveraging technology.
- We analyse success and failure with equal rigour and use both as opportunities for learning and continuous improvement.
- Everyone has the confidence that their health, safety, and wellbeing are protected and given the highest priority.
Managing risk is central to our approach and involves hazard identification, analysis, evaluation and treatment. Ongoing verification of control and their effectiveness ensures risks are either eliminated or managed responsibly.
The MinRes Risk Appetite Statement is a foundational element of our Risk Management Framework and approach to health, safety and psychosocial safety. We remain dedicated to continuously improving our approach to hazard and risk management throughout the organisation.
Our commitment to robust risk management is demonstrated through several ongoing key initiatives, including our:
- enterprise risk management platform
- psychosocial risk management framework and control effectiveness reviews
- fatality prevention program (critical risk management)
- injury prevention program
- occupational illness prevention program
- contractor management framework.
Our Hazard and Risk Management Procedure defines the minimum requirements to identify, analyse, evaluate, control, monitor and review occupational hazards, exposures and risks within the business, ensuring consistent management across the business.
We identify all principal mining hazards specific to our operations in line with provisions in the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Mines Regulations 2022. Our approach to identifying and assessing principal mining hazards, we implement a Principal Mining Hazard Management Plan across our mining operations.
Facilitators of hazard and risk assessment processes must be trained and competent in the tools and techniques utilised.
