Dedicated daycare set to support MinRes family

Published on 30 May 2024

Mineral Resources (MinRes) will continue to set new industry benchmarks by developing its own daycare centre exclusively for children of employees.

Construction is well advanced on a dedicated facility next door to the company’s state-of-the-art headquarters in Osborne Park – with refurbishment of the existing building planned for completion by the end of 2024.

The daycare will open five days a week and offer a safe and supportive environment for children of MinRes employees at an all-inclusive cost of no more than $20 per child per day.

Initial plans will see the centre operate with a capacity of 104 children aged five and under, with expanded school holiday services to cater for children up to 12 years.

MinRes will recruit its own team of qualified educators to develop and implement an early learning curriculum, with children set to enjoy the same level of quality services and amenities delivered next door at MinRes head office.

Meals will even be prepared by Benny Suwarno – Head Chef at the headquarters’ popular Benny’s restaurant – with a focus on nutrition, flavour and fun.

General Manager Strategic Assets Myles Schammer said developing a MinRes daycare centre was all about providing convenient and reliable childcare for the company’s growing workforce.

“We want to deliver the industry’s best employee experience by investing in initiatives that prioritise quality, convenience and wellbeing,” Myles said.

“Our daycare will be another step forward, providing our employees with a safe, nurturing location where their children will be supported by qualified professionals.”

The new daycare will strengthen MinRes’ focus on providing world-class environments that benefit the wellbeing of its employees and extended MinRes family.

A creche is already running within its head office building, offering free ad-hoc and short-term care for children aged eight weeks to 12 years while parents work, attend meetings or participate in other office activities. This service will continue to operate alongside the daycare.

Eligible employees can also access 18 weeks paid primary carer leave and four weeks paid secondary carers leave, plus a range of additional services aimed at supporting employees who are starting or growing their family.

MinRes is already redefining the employee experience and setting new industry standards for facilities, food and flights.

From resort-style accommodation at its Onslow Iron project to facilities upgrades across existing villages and plans to deliver a standalone flights department, MinRes is delivering workplaces that support its people to be their best and perform at their best.

Current employment opportunities are available at the MinRes Careers website.
