Darren Killeen appointed Chief Operating Officer

Mineral Resources (MinRes) is pleased to announce the appointment of Darren Killeen as Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective immediately.

Published on 7 May 2026

The creation of a COO forms part of the MinRes Board’s leadership succession process and centralises the company’s leadership structure, with Darren reporting directly to Managing Director Chris Ellison.

Killeen has been with MinRes for 17 years, most recently serving as Chief Executive Engineering and Construction since 2023, where he has led the delivery of major projects.

This included the design, construction and commissioning of Onslow Iron, as well as other large-scale assets that underpin the company’s iron ore, lithium and mining services portfolios.

Ellison said Killeen has been instrumental in delivering the major projects that have transformed MinRes and client projects that have built the company’s reputation for execution excellence.

“Darren is highly regarded and has built strong and longstanding relationships with our major clients and joint venture partners,” Ellison said.

“He brings a deep knowledge of our assets, people and culture, and has a proven track record of turning strategy into reliable and disciplined capital execution – delivering projects on time, on budget and with an unwavering commitment to safety.”

On behalf of the MinRes Board, Non-Executive Chair Mal Bundey congratulated Killeen on his appointment as Chief Operating Officer.

“We look forward to Darren's continued strong contribution to the business as we execute on our strategy,” Bundey said.
