MinRes Donation to Lord Mayor's Appeal

Published on 10 January 2023

Mineral Resources (MinRes) will donate $500,000 to the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund Appeal (LMDRF) to help communities affected by the Kimberley floods.

The LMDRF has been activated to coordinate donations in response to Western Australia’s worst-ever floods, with all money raised going directly to those who need it most.

The flood, generated by ex-Tropical Cyclone Ellie, has impacted communities along Fitzroy River, including at Fitzroy Crossing, Looma, Willare, Noonkanbah, and Camballin.

MinRes has a long history of giving back to the community, including in times of need, and is providing this contribution on top of existing commitments, including the $50 million committed to the WA Resources Community Investment Initiative announced late last year.

Donations to the LMDRF Appeal for the Kimberley floods can be made at www.appealswa.org.au

MinRes Managing Director Chris Ellison said the sheer scale of this one-in-100-year event has been shocking.

“Our thoughts are with the communities who have suffered devastating damage but shown incredible resilience,” Mr Ellison said.

“As a proudly Western Australian company, MinRes is determined to do what we can to help.

“I hope this donation will support those in need on the path to recovery.”
