The Komatsu HD1500-8 tray – named Titan – sees CSI become the first Australian mining company to develop its own dump truck tray and maintain full control of design and engineering at its Hazelmere workshop.

The tray offers significant benefits over the original equipment manufacturer tray, including a replaceable floor design that eliminates the need for liners and wear kits, reducing maintenance time, labour and costs.

This makes the tray an ideal option for operations seeking to sweat their assets as part of a long-term operational expenditure strategy, rather than committing capital every four years to replace a tray.

The tray is also well suited to contract miners who regularly move fleets between different applications to optimise payloads, withstanding high wear rates and impact damage.

The design allows operations to maximise payload potential and boost production, with the tub able to be customised to suit different mining applications.

The increased width of the tray provides more protection to the rear tyres when it’s being loaded, without the addition of special tyre guards on the sides of the tray.

The inaugural Titan tray was painted in a special livery showcasing CSI's core colours of red, black and white.

CSI Mining Services General Manager Workshops Ryan Archibald said the tray demonstrated the significant capability of the Hazelmere workshop.

"The Titan tray was a significant project for our workshop and business more broadly," Archibald said.

"It's now in operation at Mt Marion and performing exceptionally well. We’re thrilled with the feedback we're hearing on the ground."

CSI is a wholly-owned subsidiary of MinRes, providing mining equipment maintenance, component manufacturing and engineering solutions across the group's operations and to select external clients.

The Hazelmere workshop was incorporated into the business in 2023, following the acquisition of G&G Mining, and continues to drive innovation across the maintenance and new build of mining equipment components.

Working in collaboration with CSI's Kwinana workshop, the Hazelmere facility delivers market-leading solutions for MinRes and select external tier one clients.

The facility is a recognised leader in repairs, refurbishment and new builds of buckets, booms, sticks, dump truck trays and water carts.
