Mineral Resources (MinRes) has awarded Robe River Services Pty Ltd (RRS) its first major contract as part of the transformational Onslow Iron project.
The five-year contract is for the lease of four premium 57-seat coaches to transport MinRes’ workforce at Ken’s Bore mine site in the Pilbara, located on Robe River Kuruma traditional lands 150km east of Onslow.
RRS is 100% owned by Robe River Kuruma Aboriginal Corporation (RRKAC) and was established to be a driver of economic opportunities for local people and community.
RRKAC Chairperson and RRS Board Director Kelly Slattery said she hopes the dry hire arrangement with MinRes could be replicated with other resource companies operating on Robe River Kuruma Country.
“We are excited to have negotiated our first commercial arrangement under the RRS banner and we look forward to identifying more opportunities to build our economic independence through business development opportunities,” Kelly said.
MinRes General Manager Communities and Heritage Heath Nelson said MinRes is thrilled to award Robe River Services’ inaugural significant contract.
“This agreement marks a significant milestone for Robe River Services, laying a solid foundation for their business growth,” Heath said.

Development of Ken’s Bore mine site is well advanced, with first ore achieved in mid-May.
Onslow Iron is forecast to ship around 35 million tonnes of iron ore per year, with an expected mine life of more than 30 years.
