MinRes extends Telethon support with new $10 million commitment

Mineral Resources (MinRes) has extended its support of Telethon with a $10 million commitment over the next five years.

Published on 18 October 2026

MinRes announced the renewed partnership with a $2 million donation to the 2026 Telethon tally – contributing vital funds to further support children and families across Western Australia.

Having donated $18.5 million to Telethon since 2016, MinRes new five-year commitment provides long-term funding certainty for Telethon beneficiaries.

MinRes Managing Director Chris Ellison said the company was proud of the longstanding relationship.

"Telethon brings together businesses, governments, communities and families with the goal of helping WA kids and families when they need it most," Ellison said.

"Every day, Telethon changes lives through the charities, research and equipment it supports, and I am proud MinRes will continue to play its part."

MinRes Director People Andrea Chapman presented the company's 2026 donation during a live Telethon Weekend broadcast on Channel 7.

She said MinRes employees had seen the positive impact Telethon makes in Western Australian communities.

"Over the years we've been fortunate to meet many families whose lives have been transformed by Telethon," she said.

"Beneficiaries like Wheels for Hope, Hannah's House and Healthy Strides Foundation do incredible work that we know makes a lasting difference to kids across our state."

Telethon Chairman Richard Goyder AO said:

“Since 2016, MinRes has been a generous supporter of Telethon, and this new $10 million commitment over the next five years allows our beneficiaries to plan ahead. This funding will support children’s health and the community organisations WA families rely on. The Telethon family is very grateful to Chris Ellison and everyone at MinRes.”

In the past year, MinRes' contribution has supported a range of health, wellbeing and community organisations:

Fiona Stanley Hospital – MinRes is funding a new dedicated paediatric ultrasound scanning suite, enabling world-class clinical care and better outcomes for children.

Curtin University – MinRes is principal partner of Yawardani Jan-ga, an equine-assisted learning program for Aboriginal children and young people aged six to 26 across the Kimberley. Led by Professor Juli Coffin, the program uses learning experiences with horses to build confidence, resilience and wellbeing.

Hannah's House – MinRes' support allows Hannah's House to provide in-home respite and care, play therapies, education and other services to families at no cost.

St John of God Foundation – MinRes funded 36 VELA Neonatal chairs for the neonatal intensive care units at St John of God hospitals in Midland, Subiaco and Murdoch. The chairs help parents have skin-to-skin contact with premature or unwell newborns.

Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre – MinRes funding has enabled an in-house psychology service and Kids in the Kitchen cooking classes, supporting both the emotional and practical sides of living with the condition.

Wheels for Hope – With MinRes' support, Wheels for Hope provides WA kids and their families with an insured, licensed and fully serviced wheelchair-accessible vehicle.

Youth Focus – MinRes funding supports two counsellors who provide free counselling to young people aged 12 to 25 experiencing mental health challenges.

MinRes' support of Telethon is a core part of its approach to social investment, which is underpinned by a commitment to inclusion, opportunity and long-term impact.
