MinRes grants support WA communities

Published on 11 April 2023

Thirteen community organisations across WA have received grants of up to $10,000 to support programs and events that help to create strong, happy and healthy communities.

The recent round of the MinRes Community Grant program saw funding going towards supporting community events, a landscaping project and training volunteers.

MinRes General Manager Communities and Heritage, Heath Nelson said the program demonstrates MinRes’ commitment to supporting the local communities where it operates.

“Through our Community Grant Program we support organisations operating in the Pilbara, Goldfields-Esperance regions and within the Shire of Yilgarn,” Heath said.

“We are delighted these programs and initiatives will be enjoyed by everyone in the community, ensuring these towns continue to be great places to live, work and raise a family.”

Marine Rescue Onslow (MRO) is one organisation that received a grant. MRO Vice Commander Mike Chapman said the funding would enable them to train two additional volunteers with the HR licences legally required to tow and launch their rescue vessels.

“MinRes’ unwavering generosity has given Marine Rescue Onslow the means to upskill our dedicated volunteers, allowing them to continue safely aiding community members when the unthinkable happens,” Mike said.

“On behalf of the entire Onslow community, we’d like to thank MinRes for their support, without them this aspect of our service would remain unfunded.”

Applications are now open for the next round of the MinRes Community Grant Program. As part of the quarterly grant program, eligible organisations can apply for funding of up to $10,000 to support programs and initiatives that are focused on health and wellbeing, employment and procurement, education, aboriginal engagement and environment.

Organisations operating in the Pilbara, Goldfields-Esperance regions or within the Shire of Yilgarn are encouraged to apply before Sunday, 30 April. More information, including the application form, can be found here.
